Medication Management

  • Dr. Kennedy may recommend taking a medication to treat your symptoms based on evidence based medicine. This means prescribing medications that has been shown to be effective in randomized controlled trials and approved by the FDA.

    If you are recommended a medication, you should be prescribed the lowest possible effective dose and the time you are are taking the medicaiton should eb monitored closely. This way we can be sure that patients are not taking medications they no longer need or doses that are too strong for them.

    • Dr. Kennedy will monitor your symptoms closely, often using the same standardized rating scales that were used in the original drug trials. That way, we can be sure that your treatment is effective.

      As well as making sure that patients are feeling better over time, Dr. Kennedy may also order blood work, depending on the medication.

      We can also coordinate with your primary care doctor as part of our collaborative approach to patient care.

  • Our goal is always for patients to take the lowest effective dose of medication for the shortest period of time that helps their symptoms remain in remission. This time period is different for every patient. However, our goal is always to make sure patients are not taking medications they no longer need so we will review your medication at every visit.

As a specialist who has worked at the highest level, Dr. Kennedy has extensive clinical experience. Sometimes patients may be seeking a second opinion or have questions about a diagnosis they have received in the past. Sometimes patients may seek treatment on the recommendations of their friends or family. Many patients seek an evaluation for a diagnosis they may have had for a long time without realizing, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). By taking the time to perform an in-depth, detailed evaluation, we can make the most accurate diagnosis which, ultimately gives treatment the best chance of success.

We also provide employment and return-to-work evaluations and can provide your employer with recommendations for accommodations, if this is recommended.

Once we have completed the evaluation, we can discuss diagnoses and options for treatment. Patients commonly begin treatment right away, often the same day.
